A couple of months ago my little blog passed quite an astonishing milestone - it's 5 year birthday. I never thought that I would reach two months, let alone half a decade of writing things in this online diary.

It was never intended to be anything but my little happy space that was done in-between life, and somehow this blog has taken on an identity all of its own.

The skills I've learned along the way have been invaluable, the people I have met have changed my life, I have done things I never though achievable and this strange little habit has also given me a confidence I never thought possible - I am so proud to call myself a blogger.

It's been just over four years that I've tapped away at this little hobby of mine, and it is hands down one of my favorite things in the world. I've made amazing friendships, learned more that I ever could have thought and enthused about new discoveries more than I ever thought possible.

The amazing Frankie at The MayFairy when not creating side-splittingly funny horoscopes and incrediby clever blog posts on pithy subjects, moonlights as a graphic designer, so I asked for her help to fix up my ugly blog header. I made it myself on a winter's night in an archaic graphics programme, and though I love it, it desperately needs someone with far more talent than I'll ever have.

So, the one and only Miss Rhyme and Ribbons and I have been a-scheming and a-planning, and with the dawn of the party season, decided to pool (her) knowledge of beauteous party products to say thank you for reading our little corners of the t'internet.

As it's getting into full swing party season, we thought a slightly more fashionable bent (I've assembled a few foodie hampers in the past) could be fun and maybe this tomboy will learn something in the process. We've compiled a hamper of skin goodies, eyeshadows, Moroccan argan soap, lip tints, lotions, glitter falsies, luminizers, lipsticks, mini-scents, lash treatments, topping it off with a beautiful scarf and a few bath cure-alls for the morning after the night before.

Chateau Pape Clement - a dream experience in Bordeaux, France

We wove our way through the streets of Bordeaux, beginning in the Medieval Quarter all carved in butter stone, glimpsed occasional hard modern buildings which turned to suburban homes before giving way to rolling fields of blooming crops. As we turned the corner onto our destination, I excitedly clutched the boy as fields of vineyards heavy with grapes came into view, cart horses grazed contentedly and the crenelated Chateau Pape Clement appeared - our home for the night.

A wonderfully surreal chain of events - a Shoreditch evening where I asked a wine-loving francophile friend of mine for Bordeaux recommendations - turned into a invite to explore and stay in a genuine French Chateau complete with acres of vineyards.

 

Disclaimer: We were invited guests of Chateau Pape Clement for the evening, but my (very many) opinions are only ever my own, and I would never recommend anywhere that I wouldn't happily revisit - in fact I would quite love to move in there...

Life lately. A moment of reflection in a busy whirl of cake, laughter, bitter/sweet goodbyes, autumnal nights, more fashion than the last 6 months combined and a few sheeps.

Just another average week.

Celebrating a prosecco moment & a weekend giveaway: NOW CLOSED

I am a ginormous believer of celebrating now. Right this moment, do something that makes you happy (well, after you finish reading this blog post of course). Kiss the cat, hug a friend, change the screensaver on a work colleagues computer to something silly, book in brunch, sit back and properly enjoy a cup of tea - whatever it is that makes the cockles of your heart warm.

Languidly luxuriate in the moment. Go on, I dare ya.

Call someone you love, buy your boss a pack of wasabi coated peanuts, smile at a stranger, congratulate someone through facebook on something they are proud of, plan a delicious meal featuring your favourite flavour, book in a birthday bevvie, tell a cheesy joke that makes everyone groan, watch a youtube video of a cat drinking water.

 
The wine buffs at Waitrose Cellar kindly sent me a couple of their delicious prosecco bottles in order to create something very special out of the ordinary. We simply celebrated a safe return to normal London life after a weekend away in Amsterdam (and slightly frenetic dash through Brussels train station).

Believing firmly in karma, I've decided I simply want to share the love. One bottle of prosecco will wing it's way to someone who comments on the post below (UK entries only I'm afraid!). Far away from your original home, it's sometimes the hardest as you would usually be catching up with your family and friends, imbibing a little too much, eating way too much and arging over watching the Queens Speech or the Snowman. Goals & Winning

Ok, so two of my good friends have reminded me that I'm getting a bit slack. I start with super gusto on new projects, which kind of peter out after awhile. This is absoloutely true of my 101 in 1001.

Please do kick my butt.

My lovely ladies have done so, guilting me into running a progress update. I have completed/started 33% of the goals in nearly 33% of the time. Well, I've completed a few fairly recently;

• Attending an ANZAC Day Parade

• Hosted a Mojito, Monopoly and Mushkalica Night

• Gone on a canal boat holiday (post to come)
• Tried 5 new-to-me London Restaurants Reform Social Bar & Grill, Kopapa, The Providores, Caravan & The Modern Pantry
• Had a No-sugar week - over Easter no less. It did involve a few natural artificial sweetners, but we all have to start somewhere, right?

Time to get a plan in action.
